In November 2014, Francis Bacon’s painting “Three Studies of Lucian Freud” broke the world record for the most expensive artwork ever sold -- $142.4 million. In contrast, “Impulse,” a short turn-around exhibition of affordable artworkby Bay Area and Northern California artists, offers a more approachable price point: $250 or less.
Each artist brings two works of art, one to exhibit and one to replace it when sold. Artwork is sold off the wall, facilitating purchases of work by patrons. The beginning of the show versus the end of the show is completely different because the art keeps getting replaced.
Impulse is a feeling of “I must have this, I must own this.” What triggers your impulse to buy something?
