"48 Pillars" Bay Area Exhibition
Opening Reception: Saturday, March 2nd, 7-9PM

48 Pillars was inspired by a chance encounter at Flax with a close-out sale of deep vertical panels, 48” x 12” x 1 5/8”.  24 local Bay Area artists each produced two companion pieces or diptychs on these identically sized panels. The panels exactly ring the gallery - 48 works total. - Michael Yochum, Curator

Artists Talk and Closing Reception:  Saturday, April 6th, 12-3PM
Exhibition: March 2 - April 6, 2019

Featured artists:  Pilar Agüero-Esparza, Cherisse Alcantara, Salma Arastu, Sue Averell, Mark Bauer, Diane Tate DallasKidd, Lynn Dau, Lisa Toby Goodman, Crystal Kamoroff, Philippe Jestin, Andrew Li, Lola, Derek Nunn, Jenny Phillips, Sandy Ostrau, Lisa Reid, Sawyer Rose, Ron Moultrie Saunders, Sahba Shere, Brian Singer, 3 Fish Studios (Annie Galvin & Eric Rewitzer), Mimi Chen Ting, Alberto Toscano, and Jenny Wantuch.

This is the third annual 48 Pillars exhibition at Arc Gallery. It is essentially a “structural constraint” show, similar to our other “structural constraint” exhibition: the iconic annual, end of summer exhibition, FourSquared.  In both exhibitions, the artists are unconstrained in subject matter, except to the extent that works need to be a series, but they are constrained in format.
