“Impulse” Bay Area Juried Exhibition & Off-The-Wall Sale

What triggers your impulse to buy something? Emotions and feelings are triggered by image, color, memory. It is a feeling of “I must have this, I must own this.” We are seeking works that hit the sweet spot for consumers. We are looking for desirable works of art at reasonable price points, small, amazing works that collectors will want to own. We are looking to create art addicts.
Consider it a try-out. Bring us works that we, the jurors will covet. Bring us something that tempts us to curate your works into a future show. Something so cool it will be instantly collected. Something so unique it will linger in people’s minds.
All works must be priced $250 retail or under.
Sculpture, painting, drawing, photo, printmaking, mixed media, collage, assemblage, ceramics, fiber art, artist book - Original artwork only. No giclee reproductions. (This exhibition cannot accept jewelry, video, film, performance art, installation and works requiring an external electrical source.)

ON-LINE SUBMISSION PROCESS
Submission is on-line only. Each artist must submit two works of art of the same size, one to exhibit and one to replace it when sold.
No work may be priced over $250 retail.
Submit JPG images sized approximately 4 inches wide x 6 inches long at 300 dpi resolution. In order to upload successfully, your image must be at least 1200 pixels wide. The maximum uploadable file size is 8 megabytes. High-resolution images are requested for printed publicity of accepted works. Works displayed on-line will be reduced to web-standard low resolution by Arc. All images must be submitted in RGB color mode. You will NOT be able to upload images in CMYK. Your JPG file name must be Artist's Last Name, under-score, and Title. Example: Smith_ScratchMarks2.JPG
Only artists residing in the San Francisco Bay Area and Northern California. The Bay Area includes the counties of Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Monterey, Napa, Sacramento, San Francisco, San Joaquin, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Solano, Sonoma, and Stanislaus.
DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION
January 5, 2016. Works must be submitted online before midnight (in your time zone) to be considered by jurors.
ARTWORK MAXIMUM SIZE
2D works: no more than 20 inches high by 20 inches wide including frame / 3D works: no more than 12 x 12 x 12 inches
Artworks must arrive “ready to hang” and be presented professionally. Wire or sawtooth hangers only. No push pins. No magnets. Framed artwork must use black wood, white wood, or natural wood frame.
NON-REFUNDABLE ENTRY FEE
Payment of $15 per entry. An entry consists of two submissions of images or pieces. Credit card payment through Paypal only. You do not need a Paypal account to pay through Paypal.
SELECTION OF WORK
The jurors will select works to be on display at the Arc Gallery on 1246 Folsom Street.
NOTIFICATION TO ARTISTS
All artists will be notified by email on Friday, January 8th. If you do not receive an email, please be sure to check your spam folder.
HAND-DELIVERY OF ARTWORK
The two works must be delivered in person on Thursday, January 14th - between 12 noon and 7PM. We cannot accept shipped artwork for this exhibition.
SALES OF ART
60% of the sale will go to the artists, 40% of the sale will go to Arc. All artwork will be sold off the wall at time of sale and be replaced with another piece. Checks for sold art will be mailed by February 15, 2015.
INSURANCE & LIABILITY
Artwork is insured only while on the premises of Arc Studios & Gallery from January 15th to February 2nd, 2015, and according to the terms of our fine arts insurance policy. The coverage is limited to the fair market value of the artwork or $2,000, whichever is less.
PICK UP OF UNSOLD ARTWORK
Unsold artwork must be picked up on Saturday, January 30th, 3-4PM or Monday, February 1st, 4-5PM.
EXHIBITIONS AT ARC GALLERY
Since Arc Gallery started in 2010, eight artists blind-juried into Arc exhibitions have been selected for solo or group exhibitions and/or picked up for representation in other San Francisco Bay Area galleries. We are delighted that various artists who have submitted works to our juried shows have been given additional exhibition opportunities at Arc and other venues.
An important aspect of Arc Gallery’s mission is supporting the making of quality art and promoting public awareness and appreciation of the visual arts in the City of San Francisco. Juried and curated group exhibitions are our primary means of showcasing and discovering artists. Publicity through Bay Area publications and social media, as well as personal invitations to jurors, gallerists and art admirers generate an average of 200 to 400+ attendees at our openings.
Arc Gallery & Studios is a mixed-use art center in San Francisco’s South of Market district consisting of a 1,000 sq. ft. art gallery, two alternative exhibition spaces, art education center, ten artist studios, offices for Kearny Street Workshop and San Francisco Artist Network, and Vega Blue Bottle Coffee kiosk. Arc supports the making of quality art in all media, provides a nurturing environment for artists to create their work, builds a community of artists to encourage exploration of art, provides resources for the professional development of visual artists, and promotes appreciation of the visual arts in the city of San Francisco. Our exhibitions have attracted many art enthusiasts, collectors and gallerists. Several of the artists selected in our juried exhibitions have been invited to participate in additional shows by visiting jurors and gallerists.
